Olympia Junior Academy originally started circa 1920's in the basement of the Seventh-day Adventist Church on the corner of North Puget Street and Bigelow Avenue. Housing 50 students, two teachers and a principal, the basement location served the church members well. By the 1950's, they were ready for a more adequate school facility for their students.
In 1952, property on 26th Avenue was purchased. Surplus buildings from Fort Lewis were brought to the site to be converted to classrooms, and a gymnasium was added. The Olympian published a story on Wednesday, March 10, 1954, noting the opening of the new school, Olympia Junior Academy.
Although the 26th Avenue location had served us well for 55 years,we were once again looking to find a more suitable location for our students and staff. After five years of prayer and fundraising, an existing building was purchased in the spring of 2009 at 1215 Ethel Road off of 14th Ave. Walnut Street and Cooper Point Road on the west side of Olympia.
Extensive renovations took place to prepare the school to house our students in grades K-8, as well as a brand new childcare facility for infants through preschool. In the summer of 2010, the elementary school moved to the new site. In September, Olympia Christian School opened its doors for the 2010-11 school year.

Monday – Thursday: 8:15am-3pm, Friday: 8:15am-1pm
For students K-8: OCS offers a standard course load of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Bible, Computers, Physical Education, and Music.
Class sizes vary between 8-20 students depending on the class. We average about 13 students per teacher.
Yes, we use FACTS online as a 3rd party assessor of financial aid for the families at OCS. You can view information and fill out an application online at www.factstuitionaid.com, or call the school for more information.
We do not have an after school child care program.
School is dismissed at 11:30 am.
Currently, we do not offer hot lunch.
Yes, OCS is approved by the State of Washington and Washington Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, and is also a member of Washington Federation of Independent Schools (WFIS).

Yes, for the safety of our students, all volunteers who are working directly with the students (in the class, driving or chaperoning on a field trip), will need to complete a background screening check. Those wishing to volunteer can pick up the pertinent paperwork at the office.
Over 85% of graduates from SDA high schools attend college and over 80% complete college degrees. This is compared to 66% and 14% of public highs school students receptively.
We strongly encourage parent participation at OCS. Areas of participation can include helping teachers at school, participating in Work Bees, driving for field trips and helping out at school programs.
